2024 Solar Decathlon
Organized by US Department of Energy

The two main objectives of the U.S. department of Energy's (DOE) Solar Decathlon® Design Challenge are to encourage students to seek careers in sustainable building and to integrate high-performance building design ideas into curricula. We are partnering with the Community Corporation of Santa Monica for our competition project. We will be working on this project for both Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 semesters. There are four different groups: design group, interior group, structure group and sustainable group, and each group has about 4-6 members working on it currently. We are efficiently operating on this competition by working on it collectively.

USF University Center Patio 3 Sustainable Redevelopment
Partnered with ASUSF, Office of Sustainability and Office of Facilities Management

Sustainable Development of UC (University Center) Patio project is located at University of San Francisco and operated by ASUSF. The aim is to repurpose the patio area by adding more greenery and seatings where students can interact with a bit of nature during their time on the campus. Our plan is to fill this space with planter boxes and booths, so that students can display their works during certain fairs. And on other days, many people can hang out and spend their time together in between classes or jobs. This project will be mainly worked on by our new members with the guidance of junior and senior students in our club.

Tactical Urbanism (Featured Finalist)
Organized by Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy

Tactical Urbanism Competition was hosted by TerraViva Instructive Workshop at The Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy. Japan is currently facing a depopulation crisis, with an aging population and declining birth rates, leading to a shortage of labor and a shrinking economy. To combat this pressing issue, our architectural design team has created a unique and tactical solution: an urban furniture kit that is specifically designed to address the needs of the city’s residents. This kit is not only innovative in its approach, but also human-centered, ensuring that the needs and preferences of the community are taken into account. Through a combination of functionality and aesthetics, our urban furniture kit will transform the urban landscape of prefecture cities, making it more livable, sustainable, and attractive for the population to come visit. As a result, our project was featured as a finalist.
